April Adventures in Pre-K 1!
Hi Everyone,
I was so happy to see all of the children after April Vacation. The weather at recess has gone from warm back to cold as this week has gone on. But we did have some extra excitement while outside. On Monday, someone spotted a bunny run under our shed. The bunny came back out and we were all able to see it. This led to the children running around with pails collecting "lettuce" (weeds poking through mulch for it). We also were able to see landscapers with their machinery on the property too. I attached a cute picture of some bike riders stopped watching the landscapers :)
Our Reading Street Book this week was Fishy Tales. This book takes "young readers in the deep blue sea to discover fish swimming through the coral reefs, starfish on the sandy ocean floor and jellyfish floating up and down in the waves".
The children really enjoyed the photographs in this book. They had fun acting out the sea life we read about.
Our Reading Street Song was Who Lives in the Sea? Our vocabulary words were dolphin, octopus, sea, sea horse, shark and starfish.
We also read How Full Is Your Bucket by Rath and Mary Reckmeyer, You Are The Light by Aaron Becker and My Words Roar by Mary DiPalermo. We often talk about being kind in our class....and boy this class gets it! . I am lucky to see and hear this each day (yesterday, I had tears in my eyes as I listened to the kind words and encouragement the children were offering to a friend during our Morning Circle). You should be very proud of your children!
Our Letter of the Week was Y and our song was Let's Go In My Yard To Play.
Other activities included:
Art Easel: April Showers Worksheets with dot markers and markers
Project Table: Bubble Wrap Painting
Decorating the Letter Y...stickers, punching holes and lacing yarn
Discovery Table: Jumping Frogs
Math Table: Sorting farm animals
Writing Table: You are probably seeing a lot of different things coming home from this Center. I love watching the creativity!
Looking ahead to next week, the Letter of the Week will be Z and Show & Tell will be on Wednesday.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Kelley
