April Arrives in the 3's!

Good afternoon!

Well, Spring is certainly coming in like a lion. I feel like we've only been able to get outside half of our school days lately. But we're making the best of it by extending center time and doing fun movement songs. Ask your kids about "The Goldfish" by Laurie Berkner and "Penguin Dance" by Jack Hartmann!

Our focus this week has been SHAPES! We read Circle, Square, Moose by Kelly Bingham, and Pete The Cat taught us about basic shapes (circle, square, rectangle, triangle, diamond, oval, and star) Asking your children to point out these shapes when they see them, or asking what shape it is when you see it, would help reinforce these concepts.

What was new in centers this week?

Art- We did some marble painting on "carrots" for a special bulletin board, and made shape pizzas.

Easel- We used watercolors to find the hidden shapes written in white crayon on the paper.

Math- Shape roads helped us practice making the shapes and our driving skills. Lol!

Discovery- The children used shape puzzles to complete pictures.

Block area- In addition to our blocks, magnetiles, and puzzles, we added ball connectors.

We hope you all have a great weekend, and enjoy a safe eclipse!

Warmly,

Julie Haynes and Christina Renoni
