On to October in Pre-K 2

Hello Pre K Families,

It looks like fall in and around the Pre-K room. Our bulletin board looks great, thanks to the children and the wonderful pumpkins they painted!

The letter of the week was E. We had a successful show and tell. The children learn how to sign the letter each week. Ask them to show you the letter E!

NO LETTER OF THE WEEK, DUE TO THE HOLIDAY! No SHOW AND TELL.

This is what is going on in our centers!

Dramatic Play- There is a Pumpkin and Apple stand this month. The children are already loving this! There is a tree to pick apples and many pumpkins to weigh, buy and sell. They are also baking apple and pumpkin pies.

Math Table- pumpkin counting

Art Easel- There was paper at the easel with just 2 google Eyes, the children had to use their imagination to draw something around the eyes. Such creativity!

Discovery Table- This week we learned how to classify things as Living or Non Living. We learned the questions you ask to determine this. Does it eat? Does it grow? Does it breathe? At the table there was a bin filled with various living and on living items. The children had to sort the items. There was also a cut and paste worksheet to do.

Art Table- Letter E crafts were… Elmo and Elephant crafts. Painting the edges of leaves.

This weeks Reading Street book was… “Bear Wants More”. Our story this week was all about animal friends and how they help each other. The bear in the story is very hungry, and his friends help him find many different kinds of food. We are learning about the bear’s den and food related words, such as hungry, nibble, snack and lunch.

We also read “ How Full is your Bucket? One of my all time favorites! The children really loved this and we all shared something from the day that filled our bucket and things that took water out of our buckets.

“An illustrated adaptation of the long-running bestseller How Full Is Your Bucket? (more than 400,000 copies sold) for kids — told through the story of a boy who learns a valuable “bucket filling” metaphor and watches it come to life as the day unfolds.

Every moment matters. Each of us has an invisible bucket. When our bucket is full, we feel great. When it’s empty, In How Full Is Your Bucket? For Kids, Felix begins to see how every interaction in a day either fills or empties his bucket. Felix then realizes that everything he says or does to other people fills or empties their buckets as well. We follow along with Felix as he learns how easy it can be to fill the buckets of his classmates, teachers and family members. Before the day is over, we see how Felix learns to be a great bucket filler, and in the process, discovers that filling someone else’s bucket also fills his own .we feel awful. Yet most children (and many adults) don’t realize the importance of having a full bucket throughout the day.

Reading Street Song- In The Forest

We sang our 5 Little Pumpkins on a gate song and Way up high in the Apple Tree song.

Reading Street Song for E- “ Let’s Let’s , Let’s Pretend”

Have. Great LONG weekend!
