Week 2 in Enrichment

Good afternoon!

Our first FULL week of school was great! We tried new things, learned new skills and had fun doing it!

Typically, in Enrichment, we read the same book as a whole class all three days. We do this because each time we read it either the kids notice something in it that they didn't before, or we discuss something different as a class. For example, this week we read I LIKE ME! by Nancy Carlson. On Monday we read it and discussed some similarities between ourselves and the character in the book. Tuesday we noticed the emotions on the character's face when different things happened to her. Today we read along with the words every time it said "ME!". They saw something new every time we read it, and it got them excited to read the smaller copy we have in our classroom library.

There are some things that stay the same for 2, 3, or 4 weeks in our classroom. But there are other things that change each week.

NEW in centers this week was...

Math Table- The children had different size shapes that fit inside each other to make a puzzle. We played with a circle, triangle, square, and hexagon.

Discovery- We snapped counting cubes together to measure different parts of the body. Some were only one cube high, while others were 10!

Easel- There was an outline of a head, with a neck, shoulders, and eyes for the artists to fill in with their own versions of a face!

Art- This class gets very excited about art! We had a special "I like me!" project where we wrote down what each child told us they like about themselves, we took a picture of it, AND they drew a picture of it! They painted paper plate apples with their own handprint leaves. And they colored "I like me" coloring pages.

If you have any questions or concerns please let us know. We hope you all have a happy and healthy weekend, and we'll see you again on Monday!

Warmly,

Christina Renoni and Brenda Daday
