Weekly Update from the 3's!

Hi everyone!

I can't believe it's the last few days of January already, but the 3's class is diving right in with our snow theme this week!

Today Mrs. G came in to read us Bear Snores On by Karma Wilson, and teach us a song about a bear that we got to add our own suggestions to.

Our book this week was Sneezy the Snowman by Maureen Wright and Steven Gilpin. It's a silly book about a snowman who is too cold, and in his many attempts to get warm... melts!

What was NEW in centers?

Art- We made our own Sneezy with puffy paint (shaving cream and glue). We also painted snowflakes for our tree in the classroom.

Easel- We used Qtips and white paint to put "snow" on winter tree outlines.

Math- Muffin Matching- the children used a colored die and tongs to match muffins to the right color in the muffin tin.

Discovery- To go along with our book we had an ice melting experiment. With one container with ice and cold water, one with ice and cold water, and one with just ice by itself we watched and guessed which ice cubes would melt first! And just like Sneezy, the ice with hot water melted first!

Writing- Our writing table now has a light table on it! We used transparent interlocking building shapes, and "ice cubes" to build all sorts of fun things!

We continue to have lots of fun with our sensory table, pretend center, playdough, and block area!

We hope you have a happy and healthy weekend!

Warmly,

Christina Renoni and Ashlee Taylor
