Jack & Jill COVID-19 Update

July 22, 2020

Dear Parents,

We have been working behind the scenes to develop Health and Safety practices and procedures for a safe reopening in September 2020.

The Department of Early Education and Care has approved our reopening plan for the 2020-2021 academic year. Some of the modifications you can expect:

  • Class size of 10

  • Daily health screenings for all staff and children

  • Classroom layouts that promote physical distancing

  • Individual material for each child including but not limited to sensory bins, writing utensils and art supplies

  • Appropriate spacing between coat hooks, cubbies and seating during meal times

  • Increased sanitizing and disinfecting

  • Disinfection practices between bathroom use

  • Disinfection practices between playground use

  • High touch areas sanitized and disinfected a scheduled times throughout the day

  • Staff will be required to wear face covering at all times

  • Children will be encouraged to wear face covering or physically distance

  • Face coverings for children will be required in the bathroom, during arrival and during dismissal

Additionally, some changes will have to be made to our typical acclimation and orientation practices. All of this information will be shared in a parent letter to be emailed the week of 8/10/2020. Some things you can expect to see:

  • Traditional playground days replaced with 1 classroom meet on the playground with classroom teacher

  • Parent orientations will be held virtually at 3 separate times the week of 8/31/2020

  • Virtual parent drop ins with the director scheduled frequently during the first month of school to answer questions, concerns or to just touch base

  • Weekly email communications from teachers will stay the same

  • Virtual bulletins boards will be used to share student work and important parent information

  • We will use the Remind App to communicate important information and reminders
