Week of January 25th in Enrichment

Hi everyone!

Ending our week by playing in the snow was just perfect! It took us extra time, but the kids did well getting their snow stuff on, and it was all worth it to get to play around in the white fluffy stuff!

Yoga with Ms. Katy this week was all about animals! The children learned some new poses and got to make the animal sounds to go along with them!

Our letter of the week this week was...D! We had lots of fun pointing out the letter whenever we saw it, and making a big list of D words. We even brought the fun outside and did some Digging!

The book this week was The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt. A boy named Duncan went to color one day and found a stack of letters from his crayons. Some crayons were happy, some were sad, and some were angry. In the end Duncan listened to his friends requests about being used more, or less, or settling disputes. This helped him to take others feelings into consideration, and flex his own creativity muscles a bit!

The centers that were NEW this week were...

Blue Bins- Letter D dog worksheet with the Dot markers

Yellow Bins- Magniboards where the children copied the letters that we had worked on this month

Art- Letter D doughnut. The kids took a paper letter D, ripped up "frosting" (building those fine motor skills!), glued them to the top of their "doughnut", then added sprinkles with their markers!

Next week when they come back for a new month they'll have a whole new set of centers.

I also want to give you some information about Valentine's Day, which is coming up quickly! We'll celebrate in our class on Wednesday, Feb.10th. You won't have to send in a snack that day, as we'll be having a feast of sorts. We'll be having fruit salad and cupcakes! Below is a link to sign up if you'd like to contribute to the snack. A contribution is not mandatory. I know everyone's situation is different, and all situations are respected and appreciated.

In regards to Valentine cards... if you'd like to send cards in for your child to distribute to their classmates, there are 9 children in the class. I ask that only the FROM part of the card be filled out with your child's name please, for ease of distribution. Also, we'll be decorating Valentine bags in school.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to reach out.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! And we'll see you all in February!

Warmly,

Christina Renoni
