April Fun in Enrichment

Hi everyone!

Just a quick reminder that there is NO SCHOOL next week. I hope you all have a wonderful and safe week off!

This week was our last art class, and the kids loved it! Ms. Brenna read the book I Ain't Gonna Paint No More! by Karen Beaumont. It was a fun story about a kid who loved painting so much, and made such a mess with it (painting everything in sight!) that his Mom put the paints away and said "Ya ain't a-gonna paint no more!" You can guess where it went from there. There are YouTube read alouds of this book that are a lot of fun! After the book, the kids painted pieces of bubble wrap, and used them like stamps on their big cardboard houses! Then, using mirrors and wooden people figures, the kids made self-portraits. The cardboard houses went home with them today, but the wooden people are going to stay at school until the end of April so that they can play with them at center time.

The letter of the week this week was N. The kids continue to do a great job finding the letter in the books that we have in the classroom! You can continue to encourage them to point out their letters around the house, in books you're reading, or while you're in the car too!

Our books this week were The Night Ones by Patricia Grossman and Nana Akua Goes to School by Tricia Elam Walker. I'm asking them more in depth questions about what the book is about and what details they remember from it. It's never too early to work on reading comprehension!

What's new in centers?

Yellow Bins- The children had a wonderful time with a Number (1-20) Scavenger Hunt! The numbers were hidden, out of order, around the classroom, and they had to fill in a sheet when they found each number. Most of them worked in pairs to find all 20! They showed great teamwork!

Blue Bin- N letter find with dot markers

Art- N is for Night, using star stickers and a moon

Have a great week next week! Please give your little ones hugs from me!

With love,

Christina Renoni
