The Weather is Getting Warmer in Mixed Age!

Good afternoon Mixed Age families and happy Friday!

For those of you that we did not get to see today, Happy Easter and enjoy the break! This weekend is going to be beautiful! We had a very nice time this week in the Mixed Age classroom and the children were very excited for the upcoming holiday. The week we come back we will not have a letter of the week and instead the children can bring in one small item of their choice from home for show and tell. Here is a look at what we did in centers this week:

The art table: We made puffy paint easter eggs, painted our clay pots for the art show, and used glue and yellow construction paper to decorate chicks.

The discovery center: the children built all sorts of creative things using jelly beans and tooth picks.

The math table: Here the kids matched plastic Easter egg halves according to number, and then filled them with the corresponding amount of beads.

The writing table included free draw with various writing utensils, Easter bunny coloring pages, and magnetic writing boards used to practice writing the letter X and to draw pictures.

The easel included dot markers and decorative tape where the kids decorated their own construction paper Easter eggs.

This week in class we read:

                       Chicken Little

How to Catch the Easter Bunny

Pete the Cat and the Easter Basket Bandit

During music and movement, the class enjoyed dancing to some of the usual songs, in addition to a springtime themed freeze dance and "Hop Like a Bunny". These were so much fun!

This past Thursday we also enjoyed a special visit from Goldfish Swim School, where the children learned about water safety and even got to meet the school's mascot, Bubbles the goldfish!

We hope that you all get to enjoy a wonderful day with your families this coming Sunday, and we can't wait to here all about everyone's vacation! We will miss you all and will see you again after the break! Pictures are taking some time to upload to my computer today, but I will send them as soon as they upload!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Mackenzie and Mrs. Haynes
