Closing Out January in Younger Preschool!

Hello everyone,

I hope that you are all doing well this week, despite this frigid weather! This week was short due to the snow days, but we still managed to fill our days in the classroom with fun and learning! This week's letter of the week was L; next week's will be K. We also began talking about Groundhog day!

Here is a look at what we did in class this week! 

The art table- The class made suncatchers shaped like winter hats and mittens, and then used markers and crayons with blank paper for free draw.

The art easel- We watercolor painted hibernating bears!

The math table- Here the children used flashlights to illuminate the shadows of various objects they collected from around the room. They then used counting cubes to measure how tall the shadows were, and practiced differentiating between more, equal, and less than amounts. 

The discovery center- The children had an absolute blast painting snow and using beach toys to make snow castles and other figures.

At the playdough table this week we used shaving cream, which was very much loved by everyone! The class has been learning how important and fun it can be to sometimes get a little messy! 

For music and movement times this week we enjoyed the Hokey Pokey, The Floor is Lava, and Danny Go's Sharks in the Water- along with many other class favorites. 

The books we read as a class this week included:

                                                        If Snow Came Down in Colors

                                                        Pete the Cat- Snow Daze

Today we also enjoyed time with Mrs. T., where the class enjoyed dancing, music and stories! 

We were glad to see everyone back this week, and look forward to seeing all of you again next week!
