Good evening Mixed Age families,
I hope that you all have had a nice week so far. The children have been very busy this first week back from vacation and have jumped right back into school routines and learning! This week we did not have a letter of the week; next week's letter will be Y. Here is a look at what we did in class this week:
The art table: Here we used a variety of unique tools to paint large paper leaves as part of an art show project and also made construction paper caterpillars.
At the easel: the children water color painted May flowers.
The discovery center was Spring themed, which included light tables and flower templates.
The math table consisted of a caterpillar math activity where the children used dot markers to add the corresponding number of circles to numbered caterpillar faces.
This month the sensory table will include soil, fairy houses, and toy insects.
The dramatic play center now holds baby dolls and accessories, in addition to play kitchen toys.
The books we read in class this week included:
David Goes to School
Llama Llama Time to Share
The Very Hungry Caterpillar
We were so glad to see everyone back at school this week, and the children were equally delighted to meet our new friends in class- the caterpillars! We will be raising and watching these grow as they form cocoons and eventually turn into butterflies! The class has come up with names for some of them so far, and I can't wait to hear more ideas for those remaining next week. We hope that you all have a pleasant weekend, and we look forward to seeing everyone again next week!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Mackenize and Mrs. Haynes
