Welcoming December in Younger Preschool!

Hello everyone,

I hope that you are all doing well! This week was cold outside but filled with warmth and learning in the classroom. This week we learned about the letter G and next week we will be learning about the letter F. I will no longer be adding in the email what letter of the week we will be working on, as I am sure you have all realized that we will be continuing in alphabetical order. I will let you know if there is a time where that changes! Here is a look at what we did in centers this week-

The art table: Here the class made gingerbread men cookies that are now hanging in the hallway, and gingerbread men paper plates., We also made cookies with construction paper and colored letter G coloring pages.

The art easel: Here we used gingerbread men cookie cutters to stamp paper, and water color painted gingerbread men.

The math table- Here the class used buttons to correctly decorate numbered gingerbread men.

The discovery center- the class used decorative pieces including Santa hats, peppermint candies, and gumdrops to adorn gingerbread men cookies.

The playdough table now contains green glitter playdough that is mint scented, alongside Christmas themed cookie cutters and playdough tools.

Our sensory table is now jingle bells themed, and holds bells, magna tiles, magnetic wands and magnetic gingerbread people.

The discovery center is now themed, "Home for the holidays" and contains household items and baking utensils, cookies, babies and their accessories, and a felt Christmas tree for the class to decorate.

This week when it was too cold to go outside the kids enjoyed music and dancing while able to use lots of fun instruments. They loved this activity and they had so much fun!

This week we dance during music movement while listening to Jingle Bell Rock, Frosty the Snowman, and other Christmas classics.

The books we read in class this week included:

                                                             The Gingerbread Baby

                                                             The Gingerbread Man

                                                             Snowball

We enjoyed a special visitor in class today, thank you for coming in! We loved having you! I hope that you all get to enjoy a pleasant weekend, and look forward to seeing everyone again soon.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Mackenzie and Mrs. Haynes
