April Adventures in Younger Preschool!

Good morning everyone,
I hope that you are all enjoying your weekend!
We had a lovely week here at Jack and Jill and the younger Preschool class has been working hard on their art show projects and gifts for Mother's Day! We have been getting very messy and having lots of fun while learning. Next week's letter of the week will be W. Here is a look at what we did in centers this week:
The art table- Here the class painted their own renditions of Monet's Water Lilies on canvases. After they were finished they were able to view the actual painting and were thrilled to learn about the real life artist. The class especially loved the fact that they were painting on canvases, similarly to many other accomplished artists.
The art easel- The class used pipe cleaners formed into spirals to paint A Starry Night with blue yellow and white paint. They also enjoyed viewing and learning about this piece of artwork!
The math table: Here we had numbered flowers that the students were able to build stems for with counting cubes-the stems number of cubes corresponded with each flower's specific number.
The discovery table- The children used scissors to dissect flowers at this center this week, and loved cutting all of the different pieces (stems, leaves, pedals) and placing them into their own containers.
The books we read in class this week included:
Llama Llama Learns to Swim
Plants in Spring
How to Catch a Mamasaurus
I would like to include this reminder for everyone regarding conferences tomorrow May 4-
A friendly reminder that school will be closed on Monday, May 4th for Spring Conferences.
Conferences will be held during the day and in the evening. Please remember that child watch will not be available at any time. In order to keep conferences focused and allow for open, meaningful conversation, it is not appropriate to discuss children in their presence. We kindly ask that you make alternative childcare arrangements.
We look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow! Enjoy the rest of your weekend, and Happy Birthday to Shea!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Mackenzie and Mrs. Haynes
