April Arrives in Pre-K 1!

Hi All,

We had a great week at school. Mrs. Lehane came in on Monday for our Snack Story time. She read Hair Love by Matthew Cherry.

We listened to our Reading Street Book this week. It was Cassie's Word Quilt by Faith Ringgold. "Join Cassie, as she takes readers on a tour of her home, neighborhood and school, introducing dozens of new words and their meanings. Young readers will relish the beautifully designed spreads, each with its own quilt motif. The children enjoyed looking for the words in the illustrations on each page as we listened to the book.

Our Reading Street Song was I Live In The City. Our vocabulary words were apartment, closet bedroom, quilt, classmates and picnic.

We also read Grow Flower Grow! by Lisa Bruce and Growing Vegetable Soup by by Lois Ehlert.

Our Letter of the Week was W. Our Letter Sound Song was Walk This Way in Wet Weather.

Other activities included:

The pizza shop continues to be very busy...the phone is being answered, orders are being taken and delicious food is being prepared!

Listening Center: Goodnight, Goodnight, Construction Site by Sherri Duskey Rinker.

Project Table: Whales to paint

Weather Wheel-the children created a weather wheel to bring home. They are always excited to have a turn to do the weather report in our classroom. Now they can report on the weather while at home too.

Free Art/Spring Stickers

Art Easel: Make a Wish..Fingerpainting a dandelion...very sweet wishes being made. Today, we painted with watercolors.

Math Table: Geoboards

Discovery: Sensory Cards....it was interesting to hear which texture was each child's favorite. And I loved overhearing you have 8 cards and I have 6. If you give me 1, we'll both have 7.

Looking ahead, Letter of the Week will be X and Show & Tell will be on Wednesday. There is no school on Friday, April 15th in observance of Good Friday.

Have a great weekend!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Kelley
