Back to School After the Blizzard in Younger Preschool!

Hello everyone,
I hope that you are all doing well. We were so happy to see everyone that made it into school Thursday and Friday; we missed everyone's happy faces! As you know it was a very short week so we did not hold a show and tell or a letter of the week, instead we had a snow day share and tell where everyone got to tell us about something that they did over the break! Next week we will continue with the letter O as planned. Our centers were snowy day themed and the class enjoyed relating the activities to some of the things that they experienced themselves during the blizzard! Here is a look at what we did:
The art table: The class used puffy paint and cutout images of Peter from The Snowy Day to create a snowy image, and then colored various snow day themed coloring pages.
The art easel- Here we used Q-Tips, and sometimes our hands, to "paint a blizzard"!
The math table- The children rolled dice and then used large marshmallows to build a snowman or tower with the number that they rolled.
The discovery center- The class had a blast using toothpicks, mini marshmallows, and snowman putty to build snow shelters!
This week we read The Snowy Day, and enjoyed many songs and activities with Mrs. T. on Friday!
During music and movement we danced to the Hokey Pokey and a blizzard freeze dance! We also included a snowball toss game where the kids were able to attempt throwing snow balls into baskets; this was a huge hit!
I hope that all of you have a great weekend, and are managing well with all of this left over snow from the storm! We are so excited to see everyone back in class for a fun filled regular week!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Mackenzie and Mrs. Haynes
