First week of 2021 in the 3's

Good afternoon 3’s families,

Welcome back! We had a great first week back at school! The children were excited to see each other and play during centers. The girls and boys also did a great job welcoming Sarah to our class. We have such a great group of kiddos in our class. They enjoy playing together and are starting to form friendships. See attachment for photos!!!

This week at CIRCLE TIME,

· We read The Snowy Day, by Ezra Jack Keats.

· Music & Movement songs included the Bear Hunt and Dinosaurs Marching.

· Our class monster came back! This week he was hungry for mittens. The children identified colors and took turns coming up to feed the monster his/her mitten.

What’s new in CENTERS this week?

Art: Students painted sparkly snowflakes. We also added stickers, stamps and a name-card to their art bins. Children will look at their name-card to practice writing the first letter of their name on some of their artwork.

Playdough: We have blue and purple playdough with scissors, rollers, dough-squeezers and winter mini erasers.

Sensory Bins: We kept their oats and scoops and added sparkly gems to the bins.

Discovery Bins: The students got some fine-motor practice in with lacing beads.

Yellow Bins: The children counted and matched numbers with foam counting puzzles. The foam puzzle pieces can be tricky to stick in. It was a good opportunity for the boys and girls to strengthen their fingers.

Red Bins: We kept the trains and train mat from last month since they only had 3 days to play with it.

Block Bins: We also kept the magnatiles but added ever-popular dinosaur figures. The children enjoyed building little houses for their dinos.

Pretend Center: Ice cream shop! The kiddos loved scooping ice cream for their friends and teachers. This was a popular center this week, so we had lots of opportunities to work on sharing and waiting for a turn. They are doing a great job using their words!

NEW CENTER, Chalkboard/Writing Center: We drew a big cloud on the chalkboard and students used chalk to draw LINES. They created a beautiful rainbow cloud masterpiece!

Have a wonderful weekend. We look forward to seeing you next Thursday.

Your teachers,

Brenda Daday & Christina Renoni
