Good morning, everyone, and Happy Mother's Day to all of the amazing mothers of our younger preschool kiddos! We would like to start by saying thank you and letting you know how grateful we are for all of the wonderful teacher appreciation treats we received; we truly feel so cared for and thought of. Thank You all! This week in class we learned about the letter X and next week we will be on to the letter Y! I can't believe we are almost through the entire alphabet and already well into the month of May!

Here is a look at what we did in centers this week:

The art table- Here the class completed their Water Lilies project and then went on to create flower gardens out of different shapes and materials.

The art easel- We watercolor painted Mother's Day pictures for Moms and offered free draw where many students chose to make their Mom's Mother's Day cards and pictures!

The discovery table- The class threaded flowers by their stems into colanders and then planted their Mother's Day flowers in the pots they painted next week. The children were so looking forward to giving them out and offered up so many sweet comments about their moms and how much they love them.

At the math table we threaded pony beads onto numbered flower stems with a focus on numbers one through ten.

For the month of May our dramatic play center now holds an imagination station filled with recyclable items, featuring boxes of different sizes, egg cartons, and bottles, as well as things to decorate and create with (markers, stickers, tape, etc. ) So far the class has absolutely adored this center and have enjoyed making boats, cars, and houses!

The sensory table now includes gardening tools and soil, as well as plastic flower parts. The class has been very busy getting a little dirty at this center and loving it!

The books we read in class this week included:

What to do With a Box

Not Just a Box

The Night Before Mother's Day

This week we annoyed our monthly visit from Mrs. T and danced and sang along to lovely Spring themed stories; the class had so much fun as always!

I hope that you all enjoy your weekends, and have a lovely Mother's Day Moms, you deserve it!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Mackenzie and Mrs. Haynes
