So Much Fun in Younger Preschool!

Hello everyone, and happy Sunday!

I hope that you are all doing well. Last week the younger preschool class was very busy exploring and learning. We talked about Earth Day and learned about how we can all do our part to take care of the environment and all of its living things that inhabit it. We learned about the letter U and will continue with the letter V when we return from break. Here is a look at what we did in centers!

The art table- The class had a blast getting messy and using clay to make their very own pottery, and then painted their creations later when they dried. We also finished our classroom paper plate bouquet, and used ink pads with different animal stamps.

The art easel- We used blue and green paint to create the Earth on coffee filters, and then glued on hearts. We also had free art, which this creative group always tends to enjoy and appreciate!

The math table- The children sorted different magnetic items onto their appropriate collection bins in order to reinforce our learning about recycling and taking care of the planet. They really enjoyed this activity and did very well with it!

The discovery table- The class first used shape puzzles where they were able to identify various common shapes and then pair them with everyday items that held a corresponding shape. We then used stickers, stamps, markers, tape and more to decorate and create with recyclable items, including a cardboard box which was featured in one of the stories we listened to as a class this week.

The books we read in class this week included:

                Ricky the Recycling Racoon

                Don't Touch That Flower!

The Life of a Little Cardboard Box( We watched a video of a read aloud for this )

We had an amazing week and we are so proud of all of our students for their hard work and the effort they continue to put forth within the classroom. We hope that you all have a very pleasant break, and look forward to seeing everyone again when we return!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Mackenzie and Mrs. Haynes
