Week 8 in 3's
WOW! I was NOT expecting the weather we had this morning! Even though it was too wet to play outside this week, we still had a lot of fun. Attached are some photos of our week!
This week at CIRCLE TIME we read Room on the Broom, by Julia Donaldson. This is a silly, rhyming story about a witch and her animal friends on a wild broom ride. There is a video version of the story on Netflix and Amazon Prime Video as well as animated read-alouds on YouTube. Check them out if your child enjoyed the book!
We also introduced our Class Monster this week. Our silly monster is purple and made of paper, and he LOVES to EAT! He is always hungry! This week he was hungry for PUMPKINS! Children took turns coming up to the easel to feed Monster the matching color pumpkin. We sing this song as we play the game:
“Pumpkin Monster, Pumpkin Monster,
Munch, munch, munch!
What color pumpkin
Is for your lunch?!”
Next week, we will have many new activities in centers.
Here is what’s NEW in centers this week:
Art: Children used crayons, markers and stickers to make fun Halloween art.
Sorting/Counting Bins: Students sorted colors and counted pegs while playing with foam pegboards and plastic pegs.
Discovery Bins: Potato Heads are back! This is one of our class favorites.
Block Bins: More dinosaur play this week! The children are also enjoying using duplo blocks to make houses and other structures for the little wooden people.
* There are lots of opportunities to learn about turn-taking at this center. We are learning to use our words to ask for a turn and to solve conflicts. During the preschool years, children develop language skills at different paces. Mrs. Renoni and I take into account each child’s language development and teach them appropriate phrases to use during play. Phrases that we are learning include:
· “My turn.”
· “I’m playing with that.”
· “Can I have a turn?”
· “Here (child’s name),” when handing a toy to a friend.
· “It’s your turn.”
· “Can I have that back please?”
Have a great weekend! Stay warm!
Your teachers,
Brenda Daday & Christina Renoni
