Hello everyone!
I hope that you are all doing well and are enjoying the start of the long weekend. This week in class we learned about the letter Y and now we are on to our final letter, Z! We also talked about memorial day and continued to learn about the life cycle of butterflies, all while continuing our regular lessons. Here is a look at what we did in class this week:
The art table- The class made popsicle crafts with popsicle sticks and construction paper, and also began working on an end of year picture project. We also included coloring pages for the letter Y.
The easel- We painted Memorial Day pictures with watercolor, and then used cotton balls and cotton swabs to paint paper with red, white, and blue paint. These will later be cut into stars.
The math table- The class used picture puzzles to match shapes.
The discovery center- We continued to observe our class caterpillars, who have now begun to complete their metamorphosis! We officially have some newly emerged butterflies! We also used microscopes and slides to observe various images of insects, plants, fibers, and more. The class really enjoyed this science activity!
Books we read in class this week included:
From Head to Toe
Froggy Learns to Swim
Where's My Teddy?
This week the class listened to and moved to songs including the Sit Down Stand Up song, Listen and Move ( which they loved!), and Animal Action.
We also celebrated our friend Tatum's fourth birthday in class this week. Happy Birthday Tatum!
We hope that you all enjoy your long weekend, and look forward to seeing everyone again next week!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Mackenzie and Mrs. Haynes
