Hello everyone!
I hope that you are all well and are enjoying this beautiful Saturday! It is finally beginning to feel like mid- May! This week we had a lovely time in school and the class was thrilled to see our class caterpillars are now in their chrysalises! This week our letter of the week was X, and next week will be the letter Y. I apologize for my typo in last week's email! Here is a look at what we did in centers this week:
The art table- The class made butterflies with painted paper towel tubes and decorative construction paper wings! We also held free art at this center which is always a popular choice amongst the children in class.
The art easel- We colored letter X for X-Ray fish coloring pages and used dot markers to complete butterfly pictures.
At the math table the class matched and glued shapes including triangles, squares, and circles to adorn butterfly wings. Later in the week we included a life cycle of a butterfly puzzle! This puzzle was a bit more challenging than what the kiddos are used to and they did very well working as teams in completing it!
The discovery center held our class caterpillars with magnifying glasses, small manipulatives of caterpillars in various stages, and a print out of different types of butterflies and moths.
Books we read as a class this week included:
The Grouchy Ladybug
The Very Quiet Cricket
The Mixed-Up Chameleon
I hope that you all get to enjoy your weekends, and we look forward to seeing everyone back in school on Monday and Tuesday!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Mackenzie and Mrs. Haynes
