This Week in Mixed Age

Hello Mixed Age Families,

I hope this email finds you well, this was a mixed up week having yesterday off from school and also having Daylight Savings time this past weekend. There was a lot of adjustments to get used to and we all got through it. PHEW!!! We wanted to remind everyone to make sure you are having your child use the bathroom before the classroom door opens, we have made many extra bathroom trips at the beginning of our day that interferes with our morning meeting time as well as their important center time. We know that sometimes it is something that can not be controlled but if everyone uses the bathroom before school, it should help.Thank you!

Follow up on snacks for school~ Snack time is a good social time with each other so making sure that have plenty of finger foods that take a little bit of time to eat are good choices. We have found that a 2 fruits or veggies and then something crunchy works great. They work off a lot of energy while at school so something that is substantial to eat is a good idea.

Here is what we did in the classroom this week:

Math Table~ Number cards 1-10 and plastic links

Discovery Table~ Plastic strainers and feathers to make turkeys. The strainers had a turkey body on it and they poked the feathers into the holes to decorate the turkey.

Art/Writing~ Watercolor painting Thankful pictures and art project catch up. There were fall stickers, coloring sheets, dot marker sheets and stampers with plain paper.

Easel~ Painting with q-tips with red, orange and yellow paint.

Puzzles~ The kids have been enjoying working on the big board puzzles that we have out. Its a group effort to get it put together.

Mrs. Lehane came in and read on Tuesday, she read I like Me by Nancy Carlson & The Sandwich Swap by Kelly DiPucchio.

Mrs. T came in today so we went into the 3"s class to have our monthly music session. She played her guitar and sang songs, we did some dancing and she used a felt board to make a turkey that had colorful feathers. Always a fun time.

Books:

If you Give a Mouse a Cookie By Laura Numeroff (big book)

You and me Little Bear By Martin Waddell

Music:

Animal Action

Number Rock

Letter G is the show and tell letter next week. Pleas have your child bring in 1 item in on Monday when they come into the classroom. Thank you.

Have a wonderful weekend! Keep practicing the Albuquerque the Turkey song!!!

Regards,

Julie Haynes & Katy Fyrberg
