Week 11 in Pre-K 1

Hi Everyone,

We had a great week at school. You may have heard that we are getting ready for our Friendship Feast which will be on Tuesday, November 24th at school. We have been practicing a song....The Turkey Dance that we will sing for the other children outside on our playground. We will also be having a special snack in our classroom that day so you do not have to send a snack in with your child on Tuesday.

Our Reading Street book this week was Subway by Anastasia Suen. "A rush of air, a car is there, hop, hop, hop on the subway. Come along for the ride as a little girl and her mother hop on the subway. From spinning turnstiles and musicians performing on the platform to people hopping off and on and lights flashing past in the tunnels, the sights and sounds of the subway have an energy all of their own."

Our Reading Street song was Let's Travel In The City. Our vocabulary words were subway, hurry, stair, cars, ride and stop.

Our Letter of the Week was O. Our song was Olive Spots Rocks.

We also read Over On The Farm by Christopher Gunson and Lazy Ozzie by Michael Coleman.

Other Activities included:

Math Table: Pegboards

Art Easel: Octopus Dot Art

Watercolors/Owl Picture

Project Table: Turkey Puppets-brown paper bag, pieces for face and feathers. The children were excited to make their own

puppets after meeting the Magic C puppet last week.

O is for Owl-letter O and pieces to make an owl and feathers to add too!

Some more coffee filter turkeys were created-the children love creating the feathers (coffee filter &

squirting the water bottle)

Turkey hats for our Friendship Feast

Discovery Table: Microscopes and insect slides to view. Some of the children were drawing what they saw!

Listening Center: Over The River by Derek Anderson.

On Wednesday, we were able to attend a live online performance from Mrs. T. The children had a great time singing and dancing with her. Mrs. Lay sent her a message that we were watching & she said hello to Jack and Jill!

Looking ahead to next week, we will only have school on Monday and Tuesday. Because of the short week, we will not be having a Letter of the Week or Show & Tell.

Have a great weekend!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Kelley
