February Fun in 5 Day Pre-K!
Hi All,
We had a great week in our classroom. Please read this email to the end. It contains important information for the week ❤
Our Letter of the Week was R. Our song was Racing In My Red Race Car.
We also read Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister and two books by Tom Percival; Ravi's Roar and Ruby Has A Worry.
Other activities in our classroom this week were:
Our Pretend Center has now been turned into an Ice Rink complete with a Hot Cocoa Stand. The children have been enjoying skating on the ice and making drinks for each other. Our Sensory Table is filled with white shred, blue jewels, bristle blocks and arctic animals. Our Play-Doh is red and heart cookie cutters, rolling pins and scissors are available.
Project Table: Valentine Wreaths were created by peeling stickers and gluing jewels & pom poms.
Rabbit masks were also created.
Math Table: Measuring objects with cubes and measuring tapes. We talked about the math concepts of longer and shorter.
Writing Table: Letter R Worksheets and supplies to create Valentine cards. The children cut their own hearts out and were very excited with the results.
Art Easel: White paper and paint sticks were used to create beautiful pictures.
Also, Rainbow Fish Craft...the children decorated their fish with paint sticks and were able to cut aluminum foil to make sparkly scales.
Discovery Table: Build-A-Saurus...working hard the children were able to connect the pieces to create a dinosaur.
Mrs. G was in to do music with our class. She brought instruments this week (hand drum, tambourine, jingle bells, and maracas). The children are learning to play the instruments on the beat.
On Wednesday, February 14th we will be attending a Valentine Dance with the other classes during our school day. We will also exchange Valentine cards in our classroom. We will not be having Show & Tell this week.
Here is the information I sent out previously......
Valentine's Day Info ❤
We will be exchanging valentines in our classroom. We have 10 children in our class. As far as delivering cards it is easiest if you send in the valentines just signed by who it is from and leave the "to" blank. We are a nut-free school and are asking that food and candy not be sent with the valentines. Stickers, tattoos, pencils, etc are a good alternative if you would like.
Also, please send in a Valentine mailbox for your child. The children can make this out of a box (tissue box/shoebox) or bag. Please make sure to put your child's name on their mailbox. Feel free to even put their picture on it. Have fun making it! If you have any questions, just let me know.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Kelley
