Getting Settled in Mixed Age!

Hello Mixed Age Families,

I hope this email finds you all well. We had a good first full week together. The friendships that are forming are great to see. When we had the power outage on Tuesday the kids did great and everyone went with the flow, we were so proud of them!!

Here is what we did in the classroom this week:

Math Table~ Numbered Apples 1-10

Discovery Table~ Apple tree building: paper towel tubes, tongue depressors and pompoms

Art/Writing Table~ Making ripped paper apples using small rectangle red, green or yellow paper. Apple punch outs gluing on paper. Coloring sheets and free art.

Easel~ On Monday and Tuesday they painted with apples using red or green paint. The rest of the week the stampers were at the easel.

Books:

Duck on a Bike By David Shannon

One Yellow Fish By Linda Kranz

Mouse Paint By Ellen Walsh

Be Kind By Pat Zietlow Miller

Music:

Tutti Ta Bear Hunt

Animal Action Let's go Swimming

Freeze Dance Chicken Dance

Button Factory

A few reminders

~ We have been talking a lot to the kids this week about coughing and sneezing in their elbows. They have been working hard trying to remember.

~ Snacks need to be a 3 component snack and water can not be one of the components. Some of the kids have been hungry and could use another snack.

The kids enjoyed our apple taste testing that we did on Thursday. They were very excited to try the yellow apple and their enthusiasm was amazing to see when they were eating the apples. This was a fun activity to do with them.

Best,

Julie Haynes & Katy Fyrberg
