Moments in May in Mixed Age!

Hello Mixed Age Families,

How can it be that we are so close to the end of the school year, it certainly flew by. We have lots to do to get ready for the end of the year. Our last day will be May 31 and our 1 graduate will be Ronin........Congratulations to Ronin. We are planning a little end of school year celebration on our last day, we invite you all to the playground at 11:40 for some fun time playing all together and having popsicles

to close out this wonderful year as a class.

Our Un-Birthday celebrations will be on Friday May 26, if you signed up to bring in something please have it to school by Friday. Thank you!!

Here is what we had at the centers this week:

Math Table~ Numbered 1-10 lily pads and little rubber ducks for counting.

Discovery Table~ Butterfly life cycles using different shaped pasta and a bean. They glued on the pasta to show egg (bean), caterpillar (rotini), chrysalis (shell) and then the butterfly

(bowtie pasta). The rest of the week we had our tent with our caterpillars that are now in their chrysalis' transforming into butterflies, as well as pictures of the life cycles and little pieces of fabric with clothespins so they could make their very own caterpillars and prisms to get a feel of how bugs see.

Art/Writing Table~ They were busy making butterflies this week using coffee filters, dot markers, markers and water colors. When the coffee filters were dry they picked out a colorful clothes pin and made a butterfly. They had ice cream coloring sheets and their name cards out to practice writing their names, and enjoyed using the scissors to cut paper.

Easel~ Painting with pool noodles using green or pink paint

We had 3 visitors in our classroom this week.

~ Mrs. Lehane came in on Monday and read Skippyjon Jones and the Big Bones

~Mrs. T came in on Tuesday and we did some dancing and singing with her. She sang the book Little White Duck, we sang the firefighter song, butterfly finger play and Flip Flap Jack. They all really enjoyed their music time whenever she was in our classroom.

~ Mr. G came in on Thursday and read Once upon a Book

There will be NO show and tell next week.

We hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Best,

Julie Haynes & Katy Fyrberg
