More March Excitement in Pre-K 1!

Hi All,

We had a great week with some special substitutes. We are happy that Mrs. Kelley is feeling better.

Our Reading Street Book this week was Somebody Stole My Smile! By Carmen Tafolla. We discussed changes in our faces as we grow. We also learned a few Spanish words in this book.

Mrs. Lehane visited on Monday and she read us SkippyJon Jones and the Great Bean Caper. We also read Good Night, Mr. Panda by Steve Antony on Wednesday for our PJ spirit day. On Friday we read Never Let A Dinosaur Scribble by Diane Alber.

Our Letter of the Week was V. Our Letter Sound Song was Viv, Victor and Vickie Grow Veggies

Other activities included:

Block Area: Large Tinker Toy building

Math: We used the balance scale and fruit pieces.

Project Table: We mixed yellow and blue paint with tin foil to make green for shamrocks. We also made weather wheels, vases and flowers, vegetable cut outs and rainbow scenes.

Listening Center: Llama, Llama Red Pajama by Anna Dewdney

Art Easel: Transportation stamps and also V coloring page with colored pencils.

Sensory Table: Arctic animals, snow (paper shred), ice and blocks to build habitats.

Discovery Table: We used mirrors to draw self-portraits. We also examined stones with magnifying glasses.

Thank you to Alaina for brining in her home made volcano for show and tell. We used baking soda and vinegar inside the volcano. It was lots of fun watching it erupt.

Jack and Jill is closed on Monday the 13th for a teacher training day.

Looking ahead, Show & Tell will be for Letter M on Wednesday. Also, our Spirit Day, Tutus and Ties, is on Tuesday.

Have a nice weekend!

Katrina Lay
