October is Almost Over in 5 Day Pre-K!

Hi Everyone,

Important reminder: Book Grams are for sale! If you did not purchase one at the Fall Festival, please stop by the middle room at drop-off and pick out a book for your child. The cost is $3. You can write a special message & the book will be delivered to your child in our classroom in November. Thank you!

Our Letter of the Week was I. Our song was Wriggly, Wiggly Izzy Fish.

We listened to Click, Clack, Boo! by by Doreen Cronin and read Room On The Broom by Julia Donaldson.

We have been talking a lot about the changes we are noticing outside. So it was the perfect time to read some Scholastic Discovery books about Fall. We read From Acorn to Oak Tree, Leaves Change Color and Animals in Fall.

Other activities included:

Math Table: Balance Beans-the children worked to place the beans on the seesaw to keep it from teetering.

Art Easel: Color Mixing-red and yellow paint was mixed to make an orange pumpkin.

Project Table: Lacing beads, leaves, scarecrows, candy corn and pumpkins to make a bracelet.

Candy Corn Project-ripping orange, yellow and white paper and gluing it to create a candy corn.

Leaf Suncatcher....there were different shape leaves to choose from. The children would cover the contact paper with tissue paper.

Discovery Table: Spider Web Challenge...the children used tweezers to remove spiders underneath a web.

Our Community Helper this week was Miss Shayla from Attleboro Pediatric Dentistry. She read Dentists and What They Do by Liesbet Sleger to us The children were able to brush a a pretend tooth. Each child went home with a goodie bag (containing a toothbrush and floss).

The children have been having so much fun at recess. We have been lucky to have had such beautiful weather this week. They have been busy playing tag, riding bikes, raking leaves and jumping into their piles.

Looking ahead to next week, our letter will be U.

Have a great weekend!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Kelley
