The Last Week in April in the 3's

Good afternoon 3’s families,

Welcome back! We were so excited to welcome your children back to school this week. This is our last week with our Pete the Cat theme, next week we will move on to Marvelous May! In May, we will have a mixed bag of themes: gardens and planting, caterpillars and butterflies, and ocean animals. We had a special treat yesterday. We were able to live stream Mrs. T’s music and movement program. The kiddos had lots of fun singing and dancing along with Mrs. T! We also met the newest members of our classroom: CATERPILLARS! We will watch the caterpillars grow and change into butterflies right in our classroom! Check out the pictures below.

This week at CIRCLE TIME,

· We read Pete the Cat and the Bedtime Blues, by James Dean and Kimberly Dean. In this story, Pete the Cat and his friends have a sleepover! Pete is very tired, but his friends are too noisy! He finally helps them relax with a bedtime story. We also read A Butterfly is Born, which is all about the life cycle of a butterfly.

· We signed in on the white board, writing our first letter/name

· We danced during music and movement.

What’s new in CENTERS this week?

Art: Children used watercolors to paint pictures of spring flowers.

Playdough: Still enjoying our lime green playdough and Pete the Cat mini erasers

Sensory Bins: Last week for plastic grass, eggs and fluffy chicks

Easel- The boys and girls designed their own pajamas using jumbo, silky crayons and pajama coloring pages. Coloring upright at the easel is a great way to strengthen the arms and shoulders. These muscles will be important later on for proper handwriting posture.

Discovery Bins: Body part sorting puzzles

Yellow Bins: Alphabet blocks

Green Bins: Our last week for giant waffle blocks and little people

Red Bins: Animal hospital and wooden buses

The next time we see you, it will be May! There is a lot of important information for end-of-year activities, so please make sure to check your email and child’s backpack daily. It is also a good idea to send in a set of warm-weather extra clothes (shorts and t shirt). If you send them in their backpacks, we will take them out and put them in their extra clothes bags. Please be aware that things get very busy during the day and sometimes we forget to check backpacks. If you leave the clothes in the backpack, we will get to them as soon as we can. Thank you for your help! As always, if you have any questions or concerns please reach out to us.

Your teachers,

Brenda Daday & Christina Renoni
