Week of February 1st in Pre-K 1!

Hi Families,

The snow didn't stop us this week....just made for a lot of fun outside at recess!

Our Reading Street Book this week was See How They Grow: Owl by Mary Ling. "Close-up integrated photographs and an informative text follow every stage of an owl's development from its hatching from an egg to its full-grown stage." Our vocabulary words were chick, down, owl, eggshell, feathers and tasty. Our Reading Street Song was Fly Little Owl.

B is for Blaze! I have attached a picture from Show & Tell....there was much excitement watching Blaze drive across our classroom floor. Our song was A Bunch of Baby Beavers.

You may have heard...our Pretend Center is now a school. This was the place to be this week. There are charts similar to what I use for our Reading Street Curriculum, a pointer, white board, chalk board, magnetic pieces to make letters, Mat Man pieces and books! Play doh is now red with sparkly pipe cleaners, plastic hearts, googly eyes and heart cookie cutters.

Art Easel: Water color paints

Project Table: On Monday, we finished up with the house/hermit crab project.

B is for bird...there were pieces to make the letter B and then the children could turn it into a bird.

Valentine Wreaths....paper plates to decorate by gluing hearts on.

B is for bear....bears were available with a variety of materials...felt, googly eyes and markers to decorate them.

Math Table: I Heart Numbers...roll the dice and color in the number on the worksheet

Discovery Table: Find It Cylinders....the hunt was on for letters, numbers and other objects.

Writing Table: B Worksheets and materials to make Valentine cards.

Looking ahead, next week our Letter of the Week will be R.

Have a good weekend,

Mrs. Kelley
