Welcoming November in Enrichment!

With October wrapped up we dove head first into November this week, although it didn't feel like it outside. November in Enrichment is all about friendships and being thankful.

November is Literacy Month at Jack and Jill. Everyone was sent home with a flyer and some paper doughnuts for you to fill up with ALL the books you read at home! When a doughnut is filled up please send it back into school with your child so that we can count them all up!

We started a Thankful tree on Tuesday. Our tree started empty and each day the children will make a list of things they are thankful for and vote for one thing to write on a leaf and hang it on our tree. We explained being thankful as "something that makes us happy, and that we would be sad if it went away". The children came up with quite the list (on their own!), but these are the two things they voted to put on the tree this week. I'll try to include the additions in the weekly email.

We had one last visit from "community helpers" today, from Goldfish Swim School. They talked about water safety and we even got to practice some safety tips, out of the water, of course.

Our cooking project this week with Ms. Pascal was Crispy Apple Boats. The children had a great time spreading the sunbutter, dipping the apples in rice krispies, and adding a cheese sail!

Our book this week was The Legend of Spookley the Square Pumpkin by Joe Troiano. One day in the pumpkin patch the strangest little pumpkin hatched . . . Spookley the Pumpkin was different. All the other pumpkins teased him, until Spookley proved that being different can save the day!

What was NEW in CENTERS this week?

Sensory Table- Scrapbooking paper, fun scissors, shaped hole punches stickers and envelopes are available to keep building those fine motor skills, and to bring home sweet "notes" to you all!

Art- We made our own Spookleys' this week with different shapes, googly eyes, and glue!

Easel- Sticky leaves- Using tissue paper and leaf cut outs the children decorated their own leaves.

Math- The children stacked spider rings onto straws. This is good for their spatial awareness, fine motor skills, counting, and patience! Who knew a simple thing like that could help so much of their brains? 😉

Pretend Center- We have a Veterinarian's Office! The children are taking such good care of the animals! They're taking their temperature, looking in their ears, and giving them treats. We have such caring "vets" in our class!

Block area- We've added a playhouse with furniture, people, and cars! This is a big hit!

IMPORTANT DATES...

11/8- JACK AND JILL IS OPEN (even though Attleboro schools are closed)

Team Spirit Day- wear your favorite team or the colors of your favorite team!

11/16- PJ Story Time- Join us on Zoom for the teachers reading some bedtime stories.

11/23- NO SCHOOL

11/28- NO SCHOOL- For Family/Teacher Conferences

11/30- Shirts With Words Day

If your child has a birthday coming up, please let us know what you'll be bringing ahead of time so that we can prepare our friends with dietary restrictions.

Lastly, with all the holidays and excitement coming up, please don't send in goodie bags for holidays, unless that's what you've decided to bring in for your child's birthday. Thank you for understanding.

We hope everyone has a safe and healthy weekend!

Warmly,

Christina Renoni and Ashlee Taylor
