Wrapping up September in Enrichment
Good afternoon!
I can’t believe it’s the end of September, but here we are!
As we think about October we look forward to starting Karate with Sensei Michael on Tuesday! Please send your child to school in comfortable clothes that they can move around in. We would prefer pants or shorts, depending on the weather, but if wearing a dress or skirt please put shorts on underneath it. Thank you!
We make sure our students know that their voices and thoughts are important and valuable. One of the ways we do this is to let them vote on what color playdough we’ll have for the next month. They did a wonderful job waiting until their name was called to give their vote, and being understanding if the color they voted for didn’t have the most votes. Between Orange and Green- Green playdough was chosen for October! Great job, friends!
Our book this week was called Families by Sheila M. Kelly and Shelley Rotner. We learned and talked about lots of different kinds of families. Some are big, small, look the same, look different, and that “people in a family love and care about each other”. We talked about our different families and some fun things we like to do with our families! It sounds like you all have lots of fun together!
NEW to centers this week was…
Math table- The children did a great job lacing big beads onto strings, and building with pegs and pegboards
Discovery- We matched different emojis and identified how they were feeling
Easel- We drew pictures of our families in an outline of a house
Sensory table- We’ve switched to dried split peas with shovels, cups, and small buckets
Art- This week we decorated houses and hung them up with the pictures of our families on our Enrichment Family Tree. They’re beautiful and I promise to send a photo along once all of them are done! We also painted today with RED and YELLOW paint to help decorate our hallway with beautiful fall leaves.
With our first really rainy day so far this year, we also had our first indoor recess! We set up a projector and did some dancing and singing along with some videos!
We hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
All our best,
Christina Renoni & Brenda Daday
