Learning Through Play in Older Preschool!

Hello everyone,

 BRRRR! Fall has definitely arrived! Please send in a jacket or sweatshirt for your child everyday! We go out for recess early so it can be pretty chilly! If you want to also send in a hat and mittens please put them in the arm of their jacket as it makes it easier for us to locate them. Our Tuesday group had a visit from our 2nd Community Helper- Firefighter Sheehan from Attleboro. The kids learned a lot about Fire Safety which is something we continued to talk about in the classroom this week. Our Wednesday group got to celebrate our friend Amelia turning 4! Happy Birthday! 

Centers 

Listening Center: Adventures of Beekles

Playdough Table: cutters, rollers, scissors and number cutouts 

Dramatic Play: Baby Dolls, clothes and other accessories 

Art Table: handprint campfires, bingo dot flames & dalmations and firefighter hats 

Science/Math Table: counting pegs, tracing numbers, fire safety

Block Center: cars, little people and a garage were added 

Easel: Firetrucks and Firemen coloring sheets with markers & crayons 

Writing Table: Tracing Letter B in sand and help the firetruck get to the fire

Sensory Table: all things Halloween

Books we read: Curious George at the FireHouse,The Fire Engine Book, Busiest FIreFIghters Ever and Fire House Rainbow.

-We always have blocks, puzzles, fidgets and writing boards available during center time. 

Reminders

-Pick Up Line can start NO earlier than 5 minutes before dismissal (12:25) Please relay this message to anyone picking up your child. 

-Please do not leave in the morning until your child has entered the classroom!

-There is NO school on Monday October 13th for Columbus Day

Next week for Show and Tell: Letter C. Please make sure that the object is not too bag (needs to fit in their backpack) and have them bring it into the classroom in the morning when they arrive.
