A New School Year in 4 Day Pre-K!
Hello Pre-K 2 Families!
First off I have to say how AMAZING these kids have been doing so far! They are all getting used to the routine and getting to know one another!
Please remember to send back the “All About Me” projects and a 4x6 family photo by Tuesday. We will be displaying both around the classroom so you will get the pictures back by the end of the school year.
We got to spend some time outside yesterday and today before it got way too hot!
You may have noticed a yellow folder in their backpacks. Please empty it each night and send it back to school. If you need to communicate with us you can also put a note in that folder as we will check it each day as well.
Our book this week was “The Kissing Hand” by Audrey Penn. It is about Chester, the raccoon, who was starting school and the emotions that he experienced. We had a few kids say that could relate to how Chester felt. In the book Chester’s Mom gives him a kiss on his left hand and it's something that stuck with Chester all night at school. It helped him to feel safe and comfortable being away from his family while at school. Most of the class said they were going to talk to a grown-up about this book and ask for a kiss on their left hand! It melted my heart (: Our centers this week were Art, Play-Doh, Shape Puzzles, Dramatic Play (which has a kitchen, baby dolls, cars and a farm) Sensory Table, Math and Blocks. At the art table we made our own “kissing hand” and some friends made Chester the raccoon. Sensory Table had sand and some beach toys in it which they loved! The most popular center was dramatic play! I can’t tell you how many bowls of popcorn and cups of chocolate milk I got to enjoy! They all have such great imaginations!
Monday we will be starting “Reading Street'' and Unit 1 is “All Together Now”. We will be talking about different jobs that people have. We won’t be starting “Handwriting Without Tears” till the following week. I hope everyone has a great weekend and I am excited to see you all on Monday! If you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to reach out! -Mrs. Deighan & Mrs. Derbyshire
