February Fun in the 3's!

Hi everyone!

I hope you're all able to enjoy this unseasonal but beautiful weather we're having today! We certainly took advantage of it at school today by doing our morning meeting outside! We spent extra time out there, and even did our hello song and read our book out on the playground! It was wonderful!

Mr. G visited us on Thursday, and let us vote on the book he read! The choices were Pete the Cat and the Perfect Pizza Party, or Pete the Cat and the Missing Cupcakes. The children wanted to hear about pizza!

He also brought in a Kazoo as a demonstration of something they talked about the last time he came in, so if you got a request for a kazoo you know why!

REMINDERS: We'll be celebrating Valentine's Day as a class next Thursday, the 16th.

Jack and Jill will be closed the week of Feb. 20-24th.

Our book this week (the one we read outside) was The Day it Rained Hearts by Felicia Bond. This book tells the story of Cornelia Augusta catching hearts that rained from the sky, and making them into special Valentine cards for her friends! We turned it into an interactive book where we helped her catch the hearts, wrote out the cards, licked the stamps, and put the cards in the mailbox.

What was NEW in centers this week?

Art- The children decorated their Valentine's bags to be used next week with markers and stickers.

Math- Using clipboards, crayons, and special shape sheets the children hunted for pictures around the room, and when they found them they colored in the shape that was on their sheets.

Discovery- Kinetic sand and number cutters made for a lot of fun!

The construction site in our pretend center is still a big hit!

We hope you have a wonderful weekend, and we look forward to seeing your little loves next Thursday!

Warmly,

Ashlee Taylor and Christina Renoni
