Finishing Out January in the 3's!

Good afternoon everyone!

I'm hoping you're all staying cozy and warm on this frigid and blustery day, perhaps by cuddling up with your little loves?

Though we couldn't go outside as much as we would have liked, the children did well with the change of schedule.

Our books this week were Pete the Cat: Valentine's Day is Cool by James and Kimberly Dean, and Shape Song Swingalong by Stevesongs and David Sims. We learned that Valentine's Day is about showing the people who are special to you just how special they are! We also learned about shapes and made them with our bodies!

What was NEW in centers this week?

Art- "I love you to pieces"- Gluing and filling in hearts

Easel- Teddy Bear sticker pages

Math- Valentine counting 1-5- Matching and counting the number of dots with plastic hearts.

Playdough- This month we have orange playdough, chosen by a random spin of the wheel.

Pretend center- This month we have a Construction Zone in our classroom! This was a favorite with the kids this week!

Discovery- The children got to play with animals in shaving cream this week!

Literacy- We matched magnet letters to letter mittens!

Sensory table- The children had fun with blue beads, scoops, cups, and funnels.

And the blocks, magnatiles, and light table are always a hit!

As always, if you have any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to reach out.

Warmly,

Ashlee Taylor and Christina Renoni
