More October Fun in the 3's

Hi everyone!

I have a few housekeeping things to get to before diving into our week.

1. Book Grams are still available for purchase in the room at the bottom of the stairs, when you arrive for drop off. All children will receive a book during literacy month, and I'm sure they'd love to receive a special message from you in theirs!

2. We are so thankful for your continued donations to keep our classroom clean and healthy! We go through a lot of tissues and paper towels all year long, but especially this time of year! Any help you can give would be much appreciated!

3. If the weather isn't telling us, the calendar certainly is... HALLOWEEN is next week! At Jack and Jill we ask that children not wear costumes to school to celebrate. Instead we can celebrate fall by wearing fall colors, or black and orange to school on Friday the 29th, if you choose. Thanks!

This week during our morning meeting we read Spooky Pookie by Sandra Boynton. Pookie (the pig) tries on a number of costumes to find just the right one. He settles on a spooky, but adorable, ghost! We all need time to figure out just the right costume, don't we?

New things in CENTERS this week were...

Discovery table- We played with gears and cranks to build things that moved!

Literacy center- We used shape magnets to match up with Jack O' Lantern faces.

Writing table- Tracing straight, curved, and zig zag vines to help our pumpkins grow was a great way to begin our pre-writing skills.

Art- Puffy paint was a fun new way to paint and glue on pumpkin faces.

Easel- We used clear contact paper in the shape of leaves with tissue paper and fabric to make our own suncatchers, which are decorating our windows in the classroom.

Math table- Kinetic sand was so popular last week that we decided to give them another few days with it.

As always, on the rug we have our library open. The lift-the-flap books are always a big hit!

As always, please reach out with any questions or concerns you may have. We hope you all have a wonderful and safe weekend! See you next week!

Warmly,

Christina Renoni and Brenda Daday
