October is Almost Over in Mixed Age!

Hello Mixed Age families, and happy weekend!!

I hope you have all had a chance to enjoy the beautiful weather today! We were thrilled to note that we got five sunny days in a row on our calendar, and we spent as much time outside as possible, raking and playing tag! Friday we had a mini dance party just before dismissal and ran some laps around the play structure to celebrate the weekend :)

On Monday Attleboro Pediatric Dentistry came to visit as part of community helpers month. They read a story and talked to the children about the importance of taking care of their teeth. Our class did a great job listening and sitting on the rug during the presentation!

Here’s a recap of what we did this week, in addition to our sensory and imaginative play stations:

Playdough: this week we put out sensory putty at the play dough table. The children could knead, pull, and manipulate the putty to find different gems and acrylic pumpkins that were hidden within. They were very busy here finding the treasures, and they enjoyed hiding the items for their friends.

Discovery: Mini tree stumps of different sizes, “wooden" planks and little birds made for great fun at the discovery table. The children flocked to this table all week, building towers, rafts, boats, houses, and more for the little birds to live in and ride on. The best part of this was how well they did with sharing. It was easy to want to collect all the pieces to build with, or to have a bird of each color, but all of the friends did a great job working together and using their nice words to share the materials.

Math: The children sorted various animals of different colors into their corresponding colored house.

Art: We made spiders out of construction paper cut into rectangles and circles with as many eyes as we could fit! We also decorated spooky the square pumpkin pages, and had coloring pages and free art materials out for use.
