Hello Families,
Thank you to everyone that was able to come to our Fall Festival yesterday! It was a beautiful day and great to see you!
What a busy week we had in our classroom! Our Community Helper this week was Miss Shayla from Attleboro Pediatric Dentistry. She came in to talk to us about taking care of our teeth. She showed us the instruments she uses to do her job and read the book Dentists and What They Do by Liesbet Slegers.
This week our Reading Street Book was Homes A to Z by Judy Nayer. This book was about all different houses people live in all around the world. We talked about what our houses look like and which home in the book we would like to live in. I told the children to keep their eyes open when they are in the car to look for tall apartment buildings, older style homes, new modern homes, houses with stone, farms, log cabins and motor homes. Our Reading Street song was I Live In A Castle. Our vocabulary words were castle, carpets, cave, farm, jungle and row.
We listened to Hands Off My Honey by Jane Chapman and read The Pumpkin Patch by Elizabeth King.
Our Letter of the Week was H. Our Letter Song was Way Up High.
Our Centers this week:
Writing Table: H Worksheets, H books, paper, scissors and writing tools
Discovery Table: We explored our sense of smell by matching scented containers to the matching cards.
Math Table: We continued talking about patterns and used animals to make and extend patterns.
Pretend Center: Construction Site
Sensory Table: Corn & beans with a farm and animals
Art Easel: Lego painting a tree
Project Table: We started the week with a horse craft. The children created the letter H using 2 big straight lines and 1 little straight line. Next, they turned it into a horse.
Free Art
On Friday, we collected leaves on the playground, talking about the colors and different shapes. The children came up with their own creations at the project table, gluing leaves, adding glitter and just being creative!
Looking ahead, our Letter of the Week will be T and Show & Tell will be on Thursday.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Kelley
