Hello all,
It is hard to believe the year is almost over! We have been fitting a lot of fun in each day! We continue to practice our graduation songs and rehearse what will happen during the big night!
Our Reading Street book this week was Follow the Leader! by Emma Chichester Clark. "A little boy is playing a game of "follow the leader" along with an increasing number of friendly animals. But what should they do when a tiger wants to join in?" Ask your child what they did when the tiger wanted to play. We had a lot of fun during the week playing Follow the Leader in our classroom. Our vocabulary words were quickly, quietly, woods, leader, follow and rules.
Our Reading Street song was Let's Play Follow the Leader.
We read Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin Jr. This was helpful as we have been busy reviewing the letters of the alphabet, the correct formation and their sounds.
Other activities:
Project Table: We started the week with sponge painting butterflies.
Chicka Chicka Boom Boom craft-the children could make a tree, stamp the letters of their name & then count up how many letters are in their name to answer the question.
Art Easel-White paper and crayons for free art
Discovery Table-On Tuesday, we released our butterflies on the playground. Kaleidoscopes were available.
By request of a student, we added the recycling activity we did earlier in the year.
Writing Table-Handwriting Without Tears slide boards. Also available, dot to dot worksheets and color by letter.
Math Table-Light table, patterns and shapes.
Looking ahead:
Monday, June 2nd: We will be having a Karate Graduation at 10 am. We ask that no more than 2 people attend this event.
Tuesday, June 3rd: For Show & Tell each person will be able to show our class a talent they have. We talked about this during the week. I explained what a talent is and we talked about some examples such as singing, karate, gymnastics, dance, cheerleading, a skill from a sport, magic trick, joke....anything they want! We will also be celebrating the children with summer birthdays.
Wednesday, June 4th: Our last day of school!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Kelley
