Pre-K Out in The Snow!

Hi All,

Important information:

Please be sure to send snow gear in with your children every day. "This is the best day ever!" was one of the many comments that I heard as we played outside in the snow on our playground. Climbing big piles of snow, snow angels, pretending a large pile of snow was Santa's sleigh, climbing on the sleigh and carrying presents (large chunks of snow), selling snow at the Farmer's Market was some of the fun the children had.

Valentine's Day Info ♥️

The Valentine's Dance is Thursday, February 12th from 6:00 to 7:00 pm.

We will be exchanging valentines in our classroom on Thursday, February 12th. We have 10 children in our class. As far as delivering cards it is easiest if you send in the valentines just signed by who it is from and leave the "to" blank. We are a nut-free school and are asking that food and candy not be sent in with the valentines. Stickers, tattoos, pencils, etc are a good alternative if you would like.

Also, please send in a Valentine mailbox for your child. The children can make this out of a box (tissue, shoe box or cereal box) or bag. Please make sure to put your child's name on their mailbox. Feel free to even put their picture on it. Have fun making it! If you need a box or bag to decorate please let me know.

We had a great week in our classroom. The Letter of the Week was P and our song was Pip The Parrot.

Our Reading Street Book was A House For Hermit Crab by Eric Carle. "A hermit crab who has outgrown his old shell moves into a new one, which he decorates and enhances with the various sea creatures he meets in his travels."

Our Reading Street song was I'm A Little Hermit Crab.

Our vocabulary words were crab, decorate, empty, shell, inside and outgrown.

We also read Groundhog's Runaway Shadow by David Biedrzycki, Little Penguin Stays Awake by Tadgh Bentley and Be Honest Jess by Molly Smith.

Other activities:

Listening Center: The Littlest Valentine by Brandi Dougherty

Project Table: Groundhog hats to decorate and cut out

P is for Patriots! The children were able to make Patriot signs for the games. Many children made extra ones for their families to use to cheer during the Superbowl game too!

Hermit crab craft-the children stamped their hand and picked googly eyes to make their hermit crab. They used toothbrushes to paint/decorate the shell.

Valentine wreaths-the children could decorate a wreath with jewels, pom poms, stickers and tissue paper.

Math Table: The light table and shapes to sort and make patterns with.

Art Easel: Pom pom painting

Play Doh: We now have pink playdoh along with cutters, scissors, rolling pins, heart cookie cutter and gems to use.

Discovery Table: Sink or float experiment....the children made predictions as to which items would sink or float. Items included an apple, coin, sponge, paper clip, lego, rock, leaf and rubber duck. This was very popular.

Writing Table: P worksheets, P books, Valentine stamps, hole punchers, stapler and tape to use.

Show & Tell for Letter B will be on Thursday.

Enjoy the rest of your day and go PATRIOTS!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Kelley
