Younger Preschool Out in the Snow!

Hello everyone and happy Saturday,

I hope you are all well!

This week at school the class had fun while exploring, and  enjoyed learning about Groundhog Day, the letter M, and more. Next week we will be talking about the letter N, and will be having a Valentine's Day party for both classes, on Thursday and Friday. I will add a list of the students' names in each class at the bottom of this email. For the party we will be playing games, listening to music, and having a special snack. I will purchase Lofthouse cookies for the students for the party, please still send their regular snacks in with them. If you are having your child give out Valentine's Day cards, please do not send candy. Thankyou for your understanding! Also, if you prefer that your child not have the special snack provided, please reach out and we can figure something out for them! Here is a look at what we did this week:

The art table- Here we made Groundhog Day hats and colored groundhog day pictures, the kids then voted on Monday whether or not Punxatawny Phill would see his shadow, then got to hear the results. The class then designed their own bags for the Valentines Day party, which  will be used to collect all of their cards from friends! We then had Patriots themed crafts and coloring pages on Thursday and Friday. The kids were so excited to hear about the teams going to the Superbowl!

The art easel- Here the class watercolor painted Groundhogs, painted with" snowballs", and designed their own Football Jerseys!

The math table- The class matched groundhogs to their shadows according to shape, and then went on a scavenger hunt for hidden groundhogs around the classroom using flashlights.

The discovery table- For the first half of the week we offered Mr. Potato head pieces and snow, and then used potato head pieces and bodies for the remainder of the week.

Playdough is now purple, blueberry scented, and is accompanied by Valentines day cookie cutters and playdough tools.

The sensory table is now Valentine's Day themed.

For this month dramatic play has been transformed into a Veterinary Practice, and has been loved by all! We have some pretty adorable aspiring doctors in the classroom!

The books we read as a class this week included:

                                                             The Night Before Groundhog Day

                                                              Groundhog Day

                                                              The Little Snowflake

                                                              The Day it Rained Hearts

During music and movement we moved to The Bean Bag Boogie, A Bushel and a Peck, the Bunny Ballet, and more.

Next week is our school's Valentine's Day Dance, and we hope to see everyone there!

I hope that you all have a fun, safe weekend; stay warm!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Mackenzie and Mrs. Haynes
