The Fun Doesn't Stop in Mixed Age!

Hello Mixed Age Families!!

It was great to see so many of you at the fall festival yesterday, thank you all for coming out!! The children made the most of our outside time together, with lots of leaf raking, helping to create and jump in piles, running around playing tag and finding the most beautiful leaves to share with each other.

On Monday Mrs. Lehane came to visit as our guest reader. The children always happy to see her! She read “It’s Ok to be Different” and our class did a great job being an attentive audience. Well done friends!

On Wednesday Trooper Hopkins from the Massachusetts State Police (and a Jack and Jill parent) brought his cruiser to visit our school! Our class got to visit with him out on the playground, try on some of his protective gear and even try their hand at “driving” his vehicle. This was such an exciting day in our classroom!

Here’s a recap of what we did this week, in addition to our sensory, play dough, and imaginative play stations:

Discovery: We had different prisms and kaleidoscopes for the children to look through and see how the light made each look different and changed the appearance.

Math: The children were busy at the math table matching up puzzle pieces. One side of the puzzle showed numbers 1-10 and the other side of the puzzles showed the corresponding number of pumpkins.

Art: The art table was the place to be! We made pumpkin and squirrel sun catchers out of contact paper and tissue paper, and we made some special decorations that you’ll see hanging on our bulletin board in the coming week! First the children painted coffee filters using spray water colors. Once their coffee filters dried, they painted clothespins so we could turn them into BATS! They came out really cute, and I can’t wait for you to see them :)

Music:

Party Rock Anthem

Who Let the Dogs Out

Thunder

Sit Down, Stand Up

We Don’t Talk About Bruno

Baby Shark

Shake it Off

Books:

The Good, the Bad, and the Spooky

Pete the Cat: I Love my White Shoes

The Night of the Paper Bag Monsters

There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Bat

Enjoy your Sunday night, I look forward to seeing you this week!

Thank you!

Katy Fyrberg
