Welcome Back in the 3's!
What a GREAT first day of school! The children had fun exploring the classroom and meeting new friends. Weekly updates will be emailed every Friday. A couple of housekeeping items first… Please send in a ziplock/plastic bag with an extra set of clothes and mask for your child. Please make sure the bag has your child’s name on it. The bags can be placed on the white shelf above their coat hooks. Thank you to those that already sent in clothes. Also, please get in the habit of LABELING everything your child brings to school (lunchbox or snack bag, drinks, jackets, sweatshirts, etc.). It will make it much easier for us to keep track of belongings.
Here is what’s happening in CENTERS!
Block Area: Children built with wooden blocks, played with a little people farm playset. Puzzles are available in this center. They also came up with some very silly potato head creations.
Magnet Board: The boys and girls used shape magnets and matched them to the shapes on the transportation mats.
Writing Table: This center is stocked with paper, gel pens, crayons, markers and stickers.
Art: We worked on our first whole-group art project. We used teamwork to decorate a table-sized piece of paper. The children had fun coloring, stamping and putting stickers on the big paper. The paper will be used to create a class quilt.
Sensory Table: The boys and girls had fun using magnet wands to search for magnetic letters and different colored bingo chips. It was a little tricky to find them hiding in the shredded paper!
Playdough: This table was very popular! We used rollers, plastic scissors to practice cutting, mini apple erasers, and google eyes to make playdough creations.
Pretend Center- Apple Picking and Pie Making/Kitchen: Children picked red, yellow and green apples off the trees. They also made pies and cooked lots of yummy food for the teachers.
Discovery: The kiddos had fun playing with a bear family dress-up puzzle. Each bear has different feelings-faces, shirts and pants to switch out.
This week at MORNING MEETING we encouraged the children to sit on the rug and we listened to a couple of books with accompanying music. We listened to The Animal Boogie, by Debbie Harter and Driving My Tractor, by Jan Dobbins.
We are so very proud of your children! Starting preschool can be a difficult transition, especially while navigating the “new normal” of the pandemic. We want to thank you for sharing your little ones with us and we look forward to having lots of fun this year. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us with any questions or concerns.
NOTE: Next week, we will add photos to this weekly update email. If you do NOT want photos of your child shared with other 3's Class families, please reply to this email letting us know. Thank you!
Have a great weekend! We look forward to seeing you on Thursday!
Your teachers,
Brenda Daday
& Christina Renoni
