Good evening, everyone!
First off, we would like to thank all of you for everything you have done for us this past week; we feel so very loved, lucky, and appreciated! Each thing you did was so considerate and we definitely shed a tear or two as we were so overwhelmed by your generosity. We are lucky to have such amazing Jack and Jill families! This week was a wonderful one in the Mixed Age classroom as well, the kiddos have been hard at work preparing for the upcoming art show/open house, and were eager to complete their beautiful Mother's Day gifts.
Here is a look at what we did in class:
At the art table: the children worked hard on their Mother's Day projects and also used paper leaves, stems, and pedals to create their own unique flowers which will be hanging in the classroom. We also water color painted butterflies.
At the writing table we had magnetic writing boards, free draw and coloring pages with various coloring and writing utensils.
At the math table the children were very excited to play The Very Hungry Caterpillar board game, where they flipped cards to reveal numbers and instructions for moving their pieces around the board, ultimately enabling them to complete butterfly puzzles. This was a huge hit this week!
The class was very busy at the discovery center this week where they used magnifying glasses to observe the class caterpillars, which are all now secure in their cocoons. The class is anxiously waiting for the arrival of the butterflies! Here they also used pipe cleaners, pony beads, and google eyes to make their own caterpillars.
At the art easel the children decorated their own construction paper butterflies with crayons and markers.
The books we read in class this week included:
The Three Little Pigs
We're Making Breakfast For Mother
On Mother's Lap
Next week we will be focusing on our final letter, Z. I cannot believe we are almost through the entire alphabet! We are very proud of the class for all of their hard work and learning this year. Hopefully the weather improves this weekend and everyone is able to enjoy some sunshine; we are overdue! We hope that you all have a wonderful weekend and look forward to seeing you all both at school and for the art show/open house on Monday! Happy Mother's Day to all of you wonderful Moms!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Mackenzie and Mrs. Haynes
