Spring Learning in 5 Day Pre-K!

Hi Everyone,

Some important information for the week ahead!

Monday-Cap fee for Graduation is due!

Also, it is our last session of martial arts. Please dress your child in comfortable clothing for this.

Tuesday-Field Trip to the Library. You do not need to pack a snack as we will be providing one. You do need to pack a lunch.

Wednesday-Show & Tell-your child can bring in one item that begins with any letter of the alphabet.

Our Letter of Week was Z. Our song was Zip and Zigzag to the Zoo.

Our Reading Street book this week was Fishy Tales. This book takes "young readers in the deep blue sea to discover fish swimming through the coral reefs, starfish on the sandy ocean floor and jellyfish floating up and down in the waves". The children really enjoyed the photographs in this book. They had fun acting out the sea life we read about.

Our Reading Street Song was Who Lives In The Sea? Our vocabulary words were dolphin, octopus, sea, sea horse, shark and starfish.

We also read Inside A Zoo In The City. This is a read along story and the children really enjoyed it.

We listened to Clark the Shark Afraid of the Dark.

Math Table: Z is for Zingo. At one point almost every child had a chair pulled up & was either playing or observing the game.

Play Doh:  Yellow play doh, cookie cutters and rollers

Sensory: Gardens

Pretend Center: Our Pretend Center is now a school. The children have been busy assigning jobs, doing calendar, using the pointer, writing on the easel and chalkboard and reading books.

Discovery Table: Things seemed quiet but we talked a lot about what was happening within the chrysalis.

Art Easel: We started the week with spring worksheets and watercolor markers. Then moved onto white paper and watercolor paints for free art.

Project Table: Caterpillars were made by stringing beads onto pipecleaners. The children could also cut green construction paper to make leaves.

Pieces were available to create the letter Z. The children could turn the Z in to a Zebra, a zoo or anything else they wanted.

We had a great time doing Martial Arts on Monday. We had our last visit of the year with Mrs. T on Thursday. We sang, counted and danced with her.

See you in the morning!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Kelley
