Good evening Mixed Age families,
I hope that you are all doing well. These last few weeks of school are flying by! The children had a great time in class this week looking after the then cocoons and now butterflies. Today we released two of the butterflies and we look forward to meeting the rest next week. This week we also completed the alphabet with our final letter of the week. We have also begun rehearsing for graduation with those in the class that will be going on to kindergarten in the fall! We have sent home the lyrics to one of the songs the children have been learning in case anyone would like to practice at home as well. Here is a look at what we did in class this week:
At the art table the children used glue and yellow tissue paper to make ducks, and also created paper plate and construction paper flowers that are now hanging in the hallway.
At the math table the children used pom poms and cupcake liner "flowers".
At the easel we water color painted flower coloring sheets.
At the discovery center the children were able to observe the cocoons and then butterflies, learned about the life cycle of butterflies, and used clothes pins and cloth to create their own.
The books we read in class this week included works by Eric Carle :
The Mixed-Up Chameleon
Panda Bear, Panda Bear, What Do You See?
Little Cloud
Mrs. T. visited the class on Thursday where we sang songs and read stories such as Five Little Speckled Frogs; the kids had a wonderful time! We are cherishing every moment in the classroom with the end of the year nearing, and continue to explore, learn, and have fun! We hope that you all have a wonderful weekend and look forward to seeing you again next week!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Mackenzie and Mrs. Haynes
