This Week in Pre-K 1!
Hi All,
We had a great week at school. Western Day was a big hit on Tuesday! We were able to get out for recess each day except for today due to the rain. Instead, we did an indoor obstacle course and musical chairs.
This week we took a break from our Reading Street book because of the shorter week and our Snack Storytime with Mrs. Lehane on Tuesday. She read I Like Me by Nancy Carlson and The Sandwich Swap by Kelly DiPucchio. We also read The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt, Thanksgiving Is For Giving Thanks by Margaret Sutherland and Pete The Cat-Firefighter Pete by James Dean.
Our Letter of the Week was C. Our song was Can You Sit on the Cot? We talked about how making C strokes will help us to draw circles and make other letters too. These letters are O, Q, G & S. The children were very excited to meet the Magic C Bunny. We practiced making the letter C in the air and sang along to the Magic C Song with the bunny.
Other Activities included:
Listening Center: Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons by Eric Litwin
Math Table: Acorn counting activity
Art Easel: Cupcake worksheets & dot markers. Each day there were children waiting to work on a cupcake creation!
Project Table: C is for Crab....the children made two handprints using a stamp pad and then turned it into a crab.
I loved seeing what else they added to their pictures...blue tissue paper for water, a pom pom for the sun, white tissue paper for clouds, coloring sand....lots of great ideas.
C is for Caterpillar Craft...gluing pieces on Letter C to make a caterpillar
Discovery Table: Closed for Assessments
Looking ahead to next week our Letter of the Week will be O. Show & Tell will be on Wednesday. Please send in one item that begins with this letter.
Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Kelley
